Information Communication Technology
Information Communication Technology (ICT) is valued at every level in the school and students are encouraged to use a wide variety of technology to enhance their learning and ensure they leave Gosden with the expertise to enable them to succeed in the outside world.
The school has two computer suites with Wi-Fi available throughout the school. Each class has at least two computers, an interactive white-board, an iPad and a camera. Where appropriate students with communication difficulties have access and training in the use of communication devices.
We are continually looking to keep pace with new technology and increase the availability of hardware for our students to use and become confident with. With this in mind we will be increasing the number of tablets in the school to meet the needs of our students.
In Early Years students are able to experience ICT through computer games and apps.
In Key Stages 1 and 2 students extend their computer and tablet skills through games and software to support their curriculm. We also start to teach the students programming to enhance their problem solving skills.
Through the secondary school the students become confident using the Internet and Microsoft Office to support their research and presentation of work across the curriculum. They are also able to widen their knowledge of email and social networking in a safe and supportive environment.
Students in Key Stage 4 follow a functional skills syllabus. This is designed to provide students with the skills to use technology confidently in everyday life. Where appropriate students work towards achieving a Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) qualification in ICT.
