School Lunches at Gosden are a family affair. Children remain on the same table for the academic year, each table being a mix of children from different classes. Head of the table is usually a member of staff or a senior girl who collects the trays of food from the kitchen and serves up to the children on the table.
Children are encouraged to wait until everyone has been served before starting. We all say the school prayer.
We encourage a wide range of healthy eating and our meals are cooked on site.
We aim to help children to use a knife and fork properly and observe good table manners.
Lunches are now provided by Commercial Services. A glossy lunch menu which features all menus for 2014 and 2015 has been sent home to all parents. Should you require a copy please call Admin on 01483 892008. The weekly menu is published on the website in the box to the right of this article.
We are aware that some foods, such as nuts, gluten, eggs and dairy may cause food intolerances or allergic reactions.
PLEASE ASK A MEMBER OF THE CATERING TEAM IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT ALLERGENS OUR FOOD CONTAINS.
At present, our suppliers cannot guarantee that all products supplied are nut free as products may be produced in premises where nuts are present.
On 13th December 2014 the EU Food Information to Consumers Regulation comes into force. The legislation requires any caterer providing “loose food” ie not pre-packed to provide information to customers of allergenic ingredients within dishes. There are 14 allergens that need to be identified if they are used as ingredients in a dish. From January 2015, when the new Spring/Summer menu is launched, the information regarding the 14 allergens for the three week menu cycle will be available to parents, or anyone who requires the information, by visiting www.myschoollunch.co.uk/surrey. More information regarding the new Food Allergens’ regulations is available athttp://www.food.gov.uk/science/allergy-intolerance/label.
A special diet request form is available from the school office and must be completed and approved prior to the provision of a special diet. This will ensure that individual dietary requirements are catered for correctly.
